OGSW Online Platform is being developed to expand Office of Global Social Work (OGSW) presence locally, nationally and globally. The platform goals are to enable OGSW Staff to bring more interns and volunteers to OGSW, to promote OGSW projects to the public, to link OGSW with other offices within and outside ASU, and to provide additional resources and educational opportunities to the community.

In collaboration with the Global Network of Sustainable Development (GNSD), Arizona State University interns at the Office of Global Social Work (OGSW) visited Nepal for one month’s time in order to assist in the creation and maintenance of GNSD Peace and Sustainability Clubs in middle schools. The purpose of the clubs is to create a space for students to think critically about concepts such as sustainable development, environmental stewardship, civic leadership, equitable governance, and democratic constitutionalism.
ASU’s School of Social Work, Office of Global Social Work is part of a partnership with Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement Program, International Rescue Committee’s Refugee Resettlement Program, and Dignity Health’s St. Joseph’s Medical Center to study refugee access to health care. This collaboration has extended to involve a videographer from the School of Sustainability to create a series of short orientation videos explaining how to navigate the U.S. health care system.
The Global Market is a project developed and created by interns from ASU’s School of Social Work, Office of Global Social Work. The goal of this social entrepreneurship innovative project is to create opportunity for refugees, primarily women to become economically and socially self-sufficient. The main purpose is on women empowerment through social and cultural integration into local community. As a first step in this process, the Global Market pop-up store was establish as a platform to accomplish this goal.
In order to facilitate engagement between ASU students and local community organizations, ASU’s School of Social Work, Office of Global Social Work hosts the first MSW PAC Conference. This event is designed to serve as a platform for students to share their solutions on community issues and to promote Policy, Administration, and Community (PAC) Concentration in the MSW program. The project collaborates and engages the School of Social Work PAC committee, the students, local community organizations, and the Arizona NASW chapter to provide students with this exciting opportunity.
