The youth I worked with in Ortega were honest about the problems they saw in their community. There was also a genuine passion for doing something that could potentially help the people in their town. The main problem they identified was substance abuse. The ideas they came up with to address the issues were partnering with a local agency to do substance abuse education on a regular basis and to coordinate fun-family friendly events that would give families a positive activity to do together.
