Refugees and Immigrants Community for Empowerment (RICE)

My work with the Refugees and Immigrants Community for Empowerment (RICE) was to set the foundation for a greater project down the line. The pandemic did create barriers in hosting an actual workshop, so we set out to develop one that could be self-sustained and led by the community.

It was vital that RICE and I gained feedback from the community regarding this project. We wanted to gauge if what we were doing was a need within the community and if they would be interested in participating. RICE sent out a survey that was in English and Arabic and developed by both RICE and me to the refugee community. Initial results of the survey were low so we set out to do individual interviews with the community to supplement the low turnout. By the beginning of March, we did receive more surveys. RICE was able to perform a few interviews based on the material I developed.
