Jesus Gonzalez, MSW
Jesus Gonzalez has been working in the social services since 2013, after earning his B.A. in Spanish Translation and Interpretation from the University of Arizona in 2012. He started on his career path as a professional social worker working with immigrant children and adults in the greater Phoenix area. After many years experiencing the barriers faced by this marginalized population, Jesus chose to continue his academic career at Arizona State University to acquire his Master of Social Work. While at ASU, Jesus continued to work with the immigrant population, and began to work with the refugee population in Maricopa County. His PAC internship was in the Office of Global Social Work (OGSW) where he continued to take on projects which impacted the greater refugee population. While interning at the OGSW, Jesus was a key collaborator on the Grassroots Refugee Dental Clinic project and the Global Market project, both of which provided refugees with much needed access to services and opportunities in their community. Additionally, Jesus helped with the expansion and redevelopment of the current OGSW and was the project lead of the first Macro Social Work PAC Conference at ASU. He graduated with his MSW from ASU in 2018. He continues to work with the refugee population, and is currently employed as a Program Supervisor for an intensive case management program with Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement. In addition, Jesus continues to provide support and service to the refugee dental clinic, which remains active to this day. As a current volunteer for OGSW, he is mentoring and coaching MSW PAC interns.
