Motivational Interviewing is a strengths-based empowerment communication style utilizing an approach that promotes an individual’s intrinsic motivation and commitment to long-term healthy behavior changes.
As an evidence-based practice, it focuses on relational engagement, empathy, and the language of change.
Motivational Interviewing therefore lends itself to a wide variety of settings and applications including mental health, addiction, primary & integrated care settings, dentistry, emergency rooms, public health care, criminal justice, street outreach, shelter services, schools & educational settings, parenting programs, and child welfare.
This course emphasizes interactive activities and exercises to practice the technical skills learned through the MI Basics and MI Intermediate courses along with direct feedback on efforts.
The MI Advanced course provides advanced knowledge and practical applications using the most updated research available and is facilitated by a member of the Motivational Interviewing International Network of Trainers (MINT).Participants are encouraged to attend MI Basics & MI Intermediate prior to this course.
