OGBV’s postdoctoral fellowship opportunities are multifaceted and include research, professional development, teaching, and community engagement.
RESEARCH: Postdocs have the opportunity to work on federal and state research grants in several capacities such as conducting research, data management, data cleaning, and supervising students. In addition to working on existing research grants, postdocs have the opportunity to apply for and receive internal and external funding to further their own research.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Postdoctoral training in OGBV focuses on development as an independent researcher and scholarship through mentorship and supervision by leading gender-based violence scholars. Professional development opportunities include support with publication, writing grant proposals, presenting at conferences, networking with scholars from across the country, preparing for the academic job market, and more.
TEACHING: In preparation for an academic career, postdoctoral fellows are mentored in teaching within the School of Social Work, and may engage in teaching both domestic violence courses and core social work courses for undergraduate and graduate students. Postdoctoral fellows have an opportunity to teach across multiple modalities such as in person and online and will also build skills in course development and management, supporting students, and mentoring teaching assistants.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: OGBV focuses on community engaged research and has collaborations with many community partners through both research and teaching. As a postdoctoral fellow, there are many opportunities to engage with the community both within and beyond Arizona.
