Reentry Summit

Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry is proud to announce their 2022 Reentry Summit will be held on Tuesday July 12 at the High Country Conference Center in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The event will be conducted for stakeholders who represent the wrap-around services that are needed for successful transition back to the community.

Reentry collaborators will work together with facilitation to develop strategic plans for their coalition, organization, community, county or region to assess adult offender reentry programming and develop reentry strategies.

We'll hear from national speakers, local experts, researchers, and experience facilitated conversation. 

Registration is by invitation only, and attendees are invited to attend the Summer Institute at a reduced cost.

Alexandra WalkerDr. Alexandra Walker

Director of Community Relations and Strategy, Alliance for Community and Justice Innovation

Dr. Alexandra Walker has more than 20 years of experience in the field of reentry and behavioral health. She offers a diverse background in evidence-based practices, training, program development, implementation science, and treatment modalities. Dr. Walker has worked on a myriad of federal, state, and local justice initiatives and research projects. Most recently she transitioned from the Colorado Parole Board as Vice Chair to co-found and run the Alliance for Community and Justice Innovation (ACJI). Dr. Walker has managed implementation efforts large and small across the correctional space in both community based and institutional corrections. She is well versed in the development, implementation, and measurement of structured decision-making tools and is committed to helping organizations reach fidelity to their highest impact practices and programs. As the Director of Community Relations and Strategy for ACJI, Dr. Walker provides tools, strategies, research and evaluation supports for implementation efforts at the state and local level, coaches leaders on implementation and staff engagement efforts, and develops practices and resources for specialized populations with organizations across the country.

Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous: Leading through Adversity

In the last decade, the level of complexity in the workplace has increased dramatically and this has created significant challenges for leaders in their day-to-day work. VUCA is a mental model that stands for volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. This framework deconstructs the accelerating pace of change experienced by leaders today and demonstrates the need to learn faster and raise the bar to adapt. The workplace environment and context that VUCA creates is one of constant change, with unclear information and outcomes, unknown variables and drivers, and a lack of clarity about the meaning of events. Unfortunately, our tried-and-true strategies such as root cause analyses and strategic planning are insufficient tools in the complexity of VUCA, yet often they are the only strategy our organizations and systems have at their disposal.

In this session we will breakdown the components of VUCA and illuminate its antidote. Reentry leaders will develop an organizational mental model that can be used to think through complex and adaptive challenges while moving forward with their vision for the future of their organization and teams.
